Job summary

Amey is offering a Civil Engineer Summer Intern position in the CAFA team, based in York. You will gain hands-on experience in structural assessment of railway assets, with a focus on bridges and station canopies, while working toward professional status.

The role runs for 8–12 weeks starting July 2027, with a salary of £12.71 per hour. A UK driving licence and the Personal Track Safety (PTS) requirement are expected as you progress through the program.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Interest in structural engineering and railway structures.
• Good communication and team working skills.

Responsibilities

• Undertake numerical analysis to determine load carrying capacity.
• Propose strengthening and maintenance options for structures.
• Plan and conduct bridge inspections to verify condition.
• Develop innovative inspection and technical capabilities.
• Prepare technical drawings and reports.
