Job summary

Mott MacDonald Bentley is seeking a Civil Engineer to contribute across the full lifecycle of water and wastewater projects. You will help shape civil design from feasibility to commissioning, ensuring fit-for-purpose solutions and adherence to current legislation and industry standards.

The role focuses on delivering high-quality outputs, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and mentoring graduates while supporting a one-team approach with clients and site teams.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering confirmed as a requirement.
• Working towards Chartered/Incorporated status or equivalent experience.
• Experience delivering water/wastewater projects and non-infrastructure or infrastructure schemes.
• Proven ability to produce high-quality design outputs in line with safety standards.
• Strong communication with team members and stakeholders.
• Methodical approach to problem solving and proactive delivery.
• Ability to manage time, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
• A valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review designs for schemes, ensuring compliance with standards.
• Produce and review technical specifications and procurement schedules.
• Challenge specifications and defend solutions to complex problems.
• Identify opportunities to improve delivery with standard designs and digital tools.
• Act as technical checker and conduct reviews across teams.
• Manage interfaces between disciplines and document production.
• Collaborate with engineers, specialists, clients and project teams.
• Work with commercial, operations and construction teams for safe, practical design outcomes.
• Mentor Graduates and Engineers to develop knowledge and skills.
• Engage with clients and maintain strong relationships.
• Conduct site reviews to ensure buildability and integration.
