Job summary

Mott MacDonald Bentley is seeking a Civil Engineer to contribute across feasibility through to commissioning on major water projects in the UK. You will help shape civil design, ensure compliance with standards, and collaborate across disciplines to deliver safe, efficient solutions.

The role emphasizes mentorship of graduates, client engagement, and opportunities to work on below-ground assets and nature-based solutions while developing toward chartered status.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering, or related field.
• Working towards Chartered/Incorporated status with a professional institution (ICE/IMechE) or equivalent experience.
• Experience with water or wastewater projects and delivering high quality outputs to design, quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and reviewing designs for schemes and ensuring they meet legislation and standards.
• Producing and reviewing technical specifications and procurement schedules; reviewing bids and submissions.
• Understanding and contributing to design standards with client and industry norms.
• Challenge client specifications and defend solutions to complex problems.
• Identify opportunities to improve delivery processes and implement standard designs and digital tools.
• Act as technical checker on project documents and perform reviews across teams.
• Manage interfaces and integration of design with other disciplines; produce documentation.
• Collaborate with engineers, specialists, clients and project teams to deliver fit-for-purpose solutions.
• Work with commercial, operational and construction teams to develop efficient, safe solutions.
• Mentor graduates and engineers to develop knowledge and skills; engage with clients to maintain relationships.
• Conduct site reviews to ensure buildability and integration with existing systems.
