This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors and has the commitment, passion, and drive to help an enthusiastic team deliver a high-quality service.

Our Civil Enforcement Officers (CEOs) are, first and foremost, a uniformed point of contact for visitors and residents. They act as ambassadors for the council and frequently help with directions to local landmarks, answer a wide range of questions about the local area, and provide advice on parking queries. They help improve traffic management and create a safer, more pleasant environment in Cheshire West & Chester by enforcing Traffic Regulation Orders, parking regulations, and restrictions on and off street.

You will provide outstanding customer care within a high-profile, vital council service supporting residents, businesses, and visitors, playing a key role in reducing traffic congestion and improving air quality through parking enforcement.

Some of Your Responsibilities Include:

  • Undertaking patrols and inspections to enforce parking offences both on and off street
  • Maintaining records using handheld devices, completing reports, and responding to service radio messages
  • Reporting and addressing offences related to Taxi / Hire Car Licences, signage, lines, and street furniture defects
  • Advising the public on minor parking enquiries and issues, following customer care policies
  • Inspecting Pay and Display machines, verifying their functionality, and reporting faults
  • Issuing Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) to vehicles violating parking regulations

Qualifications and Skills You Should Have:

  • A UK driving licence for category C vehicles (cars)
  • Friendly, polite, and supportive attitude towards colleagues and customers
  • Physical fitness to walk considerable distances daily while carrying equipment
  • Ability to accurately record and reproduce information using IT equipment
  • Polite and tactful communication skills, especially with confrontational individuals
  • Ability to read, follow procedures, establish facts, and take appropriate actions
  • Comfortable using equipment such as handheld computers, radios, mobile phones, body cameras, and ANPR cameras
