Job summary

Hertsmere Borough Council is seeking a Civil Enforcement Officer to patrol streets and car parks, enforcing against illegally parked vehicles and assisting members of the public. The role involves outdoor work, using computerised equipment and PPE, and understanding the legal requirements of the job.

You will work 36 hours per week with some Saturday, Sunday and early evening shifts; full training is provided and prior experience is not required.

Qualifications

• Must have a clean driving licence and access to a vehicle.
• Previous experience in a similar role is not essential.
• Full training will be provided.

Job description

We are recruiting for a Civil Enforcement Officer to join our existing team, covering Hertsmere Borough Council and Three Rivers District Council. You will be required to patrol the streets and car parks and to carry out enforcement against illegally parked vehicles. You will also provide advice to members of the public and check that parking machines and equipment are in good working order. The successful applicant will enjoy working outside and will be someone who can deal with members of the public in a helpful and diplomatic manner. You will need to use computerised equipment and personal safety equipment and gain an understanding of the legal requirements of the job. Applicants need to have a clean driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes. Full training will be given so previous experience in a similar role is not essential. The post is offered on a full time permanent basis (36 hours per week). Your working week will include some Saturday, Sunday and early evening working. There will be an enhanced rate for Sunday working and some opportunities for overtime.
