Job Description: Civil 3D CAD Technician

We are seeking a Civil 3D CAD Technician with pipeline experience for an up to 12 months+ outside IR35 contract, offering a hybrid working arrangement in Edinburgh or fully remote.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing quality deliverables primarily related to pipeline outfall/intake structures and associated civil and maritime aspects. This includes developing digital 3D models and producing 2D drawings.

General Responsibilities

1. Prepare civil ground, pipelines, and structural models and drawings for civil and marine works.
2. Ensure the quality of all deliverables.
3. Contribute to project BIM Execution Plans.
4. Plan project BIM deliverables and manage their delivery, including document issues.
5. Maintain the Common Data Environment (CDE).

Preferred Experience

Experience in the following areas is advantageous:

• Carrying out clash detection and coordination, with the ability to prepare Civil 3D models for Navisworks integration.

Required Experience

• Significant experience using AutoCAD and Civil 3D for water/wastewater infrastructure projects.
• Experience in preparing detailed design drawings for consulting engineers.
• Experience working within a BIM environment and using CDE platforms such as BIM360, Box, or Asite.
• Experience drafting for intakes and outfalls in power stations, desalination plants, and industrial cooling water systems.
• Experience with subsea water supply pipelines.
• Proficiency in MS Office software.
• Strong AutoCAD and Civil 3D skills; Revit experience is a plus.
• Ability to manage tasks independently and ensure timely delivery.
• Assist in maintaining and developing Civil 3D content as needed.

Additional Advantages

Additional experience that is beneficial includes:

• BTEC or similar qualification in Design/Technology.
• Oil and gas landfall pipelines.
• Cable landfalls.
• Wastewater treatment works outfalls.
• 3D/2D reinforced concrete detailing.
• Civil and maritime works expertise.
• Understanding of BIM processes (ISO 19650).
• Knowledge of clash detection software such as Navisworks, Revizto, or Solibri.
• Experience with CDE platforms like Asite, BIM360, Viewpoint, or Aconex.
• Experience with parametric design tools such as Dynamo, Grasshopper, or Python.
