Job summary

The Newt in Somerset is seeking a Cyder Tasting & Tour Guide to bring Somerset’s cyder story to life. You’ll host tours and tastings daily, sharing the craft from orchards to bottling while building guest engagement and Cyder Club interest.

A passion for cyder, storytelling, and guest service will help you thrive in a luxury estate environment. This role involves owning the Cyder Tasting Room, maintaining presentation standards, and supporting additional estate experiences.

Qualifications

• Experience in a guest-facing hospitality, tour or visitor experience role.
• Ability to tell engaging stories and connect actions to the estate.
• Strong organisation and time-management skills for multiple experiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead engaging Cyder Cellar tours and hosted tastings that guests remember long after their visit.
• Bring the story of cyder to life from orchard through production and provenance.
• Develop detailed knowledge of cyders, orchards, production methods, vintages and the estate stories.
• Take day-to-day ownership of the Cyder Tasting Room, preparing and resetting tables, glassware, cyder and food accompaniments.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation and stock management.
• Create a warm, informative environment, adapting storytelling to different guest groups.
• Introduce Cyder Club membership and support cellar door sales with recommendations.
• Deliver other visitor experiences across the estate (garden, farm, deer park) when required.
