CI Design Engineer – Material Handling

Job summary

Astec Industries Europe Limited in Omagh seeks a Continuous Improvement Design Engineer to design from inception through production for material handling equipment in the aggregate industry, including tracked conveyors, hopper feeders and telescopic stackers.

You will work with sales, manufacturing, purchasing and service to develop solutions, coordinate projects, support existing products and test new designs to advance Astec’s product line development goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Agriculture, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in equipment design and manufacturing (mechanical, structural, hydraulic and electrical/control system design).
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, 3-D CAD (SolidWorks preferred) and ERP systems (Oracle preferred).
• Ability to read, interpret and create engineering drawings and standards.
• Understanding of manufacturing practices including cutting, forming and welding of metals.
• Good organization and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Design efforts from inception through production in new product and continuous improvement designs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including sales, manufacturing, purchasing and service to develop design solutions.
• Develop conceptual and final design solutions, manage and coordinate project activities and perform testing or analysis.
• Lead Quality Improvement Team (QIT) projects using D8 process and drive cost reduction to add equipment value.
• Create, check and maintain engineering specifications and drawings; manage engineering changes.
