Job summary

Active Care Group in Penarth is seeking a Children's Support Worker to join a new care team for our young client in the family home and community. You will deliver 2:1 support for an 11-year-old girl with cerebral palsy, epilepsy, VP shunt, and behavioural challenges, in a role with evenings Tue/Thu and a long Saturday shift.

Full specialist training will be provided, and there is a 0-hours contract arrangement with ongoing support from a Care Manager.

Qualifications

  • Experience in caring for children with complex health needs.
  • Ability to work 2:1 care with another worker.
  • Driver preferred to drive client’s vehicle.
  • Willing to undergo specialist training.

Responsibilities

  • Provide care to an 11-year-old girl with cerebral palsy, epilepsy and non-verbal communication.
  • Support shifts on Tue and Thu evenings (3pm–7pm) and Sat (7 hours) in the family home and community.
  • Work as part of a two-person care team to build a consistent, trusted care routine.

About the role: Active Care in the Home are expanding our client base, and have a new children's care package in Penarth.

This role is to support our brand new client, an 11 year old girl, in her family home and out in the community.

Our client has cerebral palsy, epilepsy, has a VP shunt, and is non-verbal and has behavioural challenges.

You will be working alongside another support worker for all shifts (2:1 care). One of the Support Workers on shift will be a driver and drive the client's vehicle.

Full specialist training will be provided.

When you will be working: Tuesday and Thursday evenings (3pm-7pm) and Saturdays (7hr long day shift)

  • please note that this is for term time and in school holiday time will change to Tues/Thurs/Sat 12pm-5pm We will also have sleeping nights (10pm-8am) available from October In this role, you'll support one individual with complex needs, working regular weekly shifts to build a consistent, trusted care team.

While hours are usually stable, the position is offered on a zero-hours contract.
