Your role as a Children’s Support Worker involves working closely with children in care, focusing on their needs. Your daily responsibilities include supporting their educational pursuits, hobbies, and activities.

Your support will help develop positive outcomes for children and young people, shaping their future.

You should be highly motivated, committed, and genuinely interested in providing top-quality care for children and young people. With Nurseplus, you will work across various settings including Mental Health, Autism, Challenging Behaviour, Education, and Residential Care.

Responsibilities of a Children’s Support Worker:

  • Supporting, safeguarding, and promoting the wellbeing of children and young people
  • Assisting with daily routines, potentially in the community or educational settings
  • Organising and facilitating social activities
  • Transporting children and young people
  • Collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure safe practice
  • Providing high levels of supervision and support
  • Working in accordance with Ofsted and CQC regulations
  • Managing complex behaviours and crisis situations
  • Contributing to care plans and risk assessments, including reviews and updates

Minimum requirements from you as a Children’s Support Worker:

  • At least 6 months of post-qualification experience working with children or young adults
  • Candidates must be over 21 years old to meet industry regulations
  • Knowledge in areas such as EBD, SEMH, CSE, or SEN/SEND
  • Diploma Level 3 in Children’s and Young People, with Level 4 preferred
  • An enhanced DBS (cost £45.40, refundable after a set period of work), or willingness to apply upon registration
  • A Full UK Driving Licence and access to a personal vehicle
