Job summary

The Band 5 Children's Epilepsy Nurse post at Staffordshire Children's Hospital within Royal Stoke Hospital supports children, young people and families affected by epilepsy. You will work with a dedicated epilepsy team to deliver evidence-based care and coordinate between primary, secondary and tertiary services.

Applicants must be an NMC registered Children's Nurse with prior epilepsy care experience and be able to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• ENB 998 or mentorship level 3 (or equivalent)
• Registered Children's Nurse on the NMC register
• Previous experience of caring for children with epilepsy

Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing skills, knowledge and expertise to children, young people and their families or carers with epilepsy or possible epilepsy
• Work with the Children's Epilepsy Nurse Specialist team and clinicians with a specialist epilepsy interest
• Act as a point of contact between primary, secondary and tertiary care and the wider multidisciplinary team
• Facilitate best practice and evidence-based care for children and young people with epilepsy
• Support the development and delivery of a specialist epilepsy service, working independently and with the team

Job description

The role is a band 5 Children's Epilepsy Nurse post at Staffordshire Children's Hospital, Royal Stoke Hospital, with University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust. The post supports children, young people and their families with epilepsy or possible epilepsy, linking primary, secondary and tertiary care and promoting evidence-based practice. It sits in an expanding team alongside epilepsy clinicians, supported by a Children's Epilepsy Nurse Specialist. Applicants need NMC children nurse registration and prior experience of caring for children with epilepsy.
