Ablecross Limited is recruiting carers to support children and young people with learning disabilities, autism and complex health needs at home, in school and in the community around Southend. You will follow each child’s care plan, work with families and professionals, and help create safe, enjoyable daily routines.

This role involves personal care, communication using methods like Makaton, flexibility to work evenings and weekends, and a commitment to ongoing training and safeguarding.

Qualifications

• Two years’ experience with children and learning disabilities is preferred.
• Experience supporting children or adults with learning disabilities, autism or additional needs (paid, voluntary or personal).
• Good written and spoken English.
• Willingness to complete the Care Certificate and ongoing training.

Responsabilités

• Provide personal care with dignity and respect, including washing, dressing, toileting and mealtimes.
• Support children with complex health needs, such as PEG feeding, epilepsy care and medication (full training given).
• Follow positive behaviour support plans using calm, proactive approaches.
• Communicate using each child’s preferred method, such as Makaton, PECS or visual aids.
• Plan and support play, learning and community activities.
• Keep accurate daily records on our electronic care system.
• Recognise and report any safeguarding concerns straight away.

Formation

Level 2 or 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People)
