Job summary

NSPCC’s Childline Universal team in Cardiff seeks a part-time Childline Practitioner to support volunteers and safeguard children. You will respond to contacts, lead on safeguarding decisions, and coach staff to maintain a high-quality service.

The role includes supervision, training and weekend coverage on a 6-week rota, with some days working from home. Applicants should have a strong background safeguarding children and young people, and a commitment to putting the wellbeing of children

Qualifications

• Strong background working with children and young people within a safeguarding context.

Responsibilities

• Support volunteers while they talk to children.
• Directly support children and young people by responding to contacts as a Childline Practitioner (Universal).
• Lead on key on-shift safeguarding decisions and use coaching to develop service quality.
• Provide supervision, coaching, feedback, training and support to volunteers.
• Ensure every child and young person receives a high-quality service and support the team outside shifts.
