Job description

Role: Child Care Solicitor (Hybrid)

Salary: Up to 50k

Location: Manchester or Blackburn - Hybrid

The Role:

Covering all aspects of Child Care work, you will provide technical expertise and guidance to team members and external clients. You will manage and supervise colleagues, including solicitors, trainee solicitors, and caseworkers/paralegals, to handle appropriate caseloads and complexities. You will assist with delivering training and development opportunities within the team.

Responsibilities include dealing with a range of care work such as Legal Aid/CCMS procedures, Care Orders, Supervision Orders, Emergency Protection Orders, Police Protection Orders, Guardianship and Adoption Orders (including International Adoption), Pre Proceedings Meetings, Child Protection Conferences, defending allegations of injury, abuse, or neglect, Child Arrangement Orders, Domestic Abuse/Violence cases, Prohibited Steps Orders, and Specific Issue Orders. You will represent parents, grandparents, other family members, and children directly or through their CAFCASS-appointed Children's Guardian.

The role involves developing the department, generating work, and building upon existing contacts. We offer flexibility in work location—whether in the office, at home, or elsewhere—to foster productivity.
