Job Summary

The CFO as a key member of the board, will shape and execute Carallon's financial strategy as part of the senior management team. They will advise the CEO on financial and operational performance, highlight risks, and ensure compliance with statutory and corporate financial requirements, including audits, annual accounts, and tax returns. Carallon is a product engineering design and manufacturing company, the ability to support the senior management team to improve processes and business systems performance is a key function of this role.

The CFO will deliver the agreed business plan, set forecasts, and prepare annual budgets with KPI targets aligned to remuneration policies. Regular financial reports will be presented to stakeholders, directors, and the board. They will manage working capital efficiently, optimizing stock and debtor turnover to improve cash flow.

Collaborating closely with the CEO, the CFO will align short‑ and long‑term goals, oversee supply chain and inventory improvements, and ensure operational readiness for future growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execution of specific financial objectives set by and agreed with the CEO
  • Preparation of annual budgets, forecasts and identify growth opportunities
  • Manage and review the preparation of monthly executive financial reports with analysis and narrative to the directors and board
  • Ensure exceptionally high standards of corporate governance and compliance with internal controls
  • Regular reporting of financial performance in accordance with accounting standards
  • Regular engagement with the employees via the senior leadership team, EOT board and employee council, to keep all stakeholders up to date with financial performance
  • Monitor and manage cash flow, working capital and liquidity, and ensure inventory is held at optimum levels
  • Regular review and understanding of profitability of ongoing development projects and in respect of product manufacturing
  • Review the preparation of the annual corporation tax return with an emphasis on any tax allowances, including reporting and analysis for R&D tax credit reclaims
  • Understand and analyse risk to ongoing company operations and manage insurance and cyber‑security policies to mitigate against any threats
Essential Qualifications
  • Fully qualified to CIMA/ACCA/ACA level or equivalent
  • At least ten years' experience of senior financial management
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Experience in a manufacturing or engineering organisation is a prerequisite for this role
  • Success as part of a senior management team which has achieved organisational growth and improved profitability
  • Extensive use of ERP systems and finance integration
  • Proven line management skills and personnel development
Desirable Extras
  • Proven success in managing ancillary support functions, such as Facilities or IT would be advantageous
  • Industry knowledge of the lighting, audio‑visual and/or video processing sectors
