Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a Functional Skills Tutor to deliver personalised 1:1 tuition in Chester. The role suits someone who can combine strong subject knowledge with an approachable teaching style to help learners develop practical literacy and numeracy skills.

You will plan sessions around learners' current ability, target areas for improvement, and provide feedback on progress. This is a part-time role (5–15 hours per week) with a September 2026 start date and ongoing duration.

Qualifications

• Previous teaching or tutoring experience.
• Experience with Functional Skills is desirable.
• Strong English and/or Maths subject knowledge.
• Experience working with children or young people.
• Adaptable and supportive approach.

Responsibilities

• Deliver individual Functional Skills tuition.
• Support English and/or Maths depending on learner requirements.
• Plan sessions around current ability.
• Identify and target areas for improvement.
