Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a Functional Skills Tutor to provide personalised 1:1 tuition for children and young people in Aldershot and surrounding Hampshire. You will help learners develop essential English and Maths skills, increase confidence, and work toward meaningful educational outcomes.

The role involves delivering tailored sessions, supporting learners with SEND or EHCPs where needed, and working with Local Authorities to achieve measurable progress.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months' experience in an educational setting, including tutoring, teaching, teaching assistant, mentoring, learning support, or similar roles
• Experience delivering or supporting Functional Skills English and/or Maths
• Ability to adapt sessions to suit individual learning needs
• Experience supporting learners with SEND, EHCPs, or additional needs is desirable
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Patient, reliable, and engaging approach
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one

Responsibilities

• Support learners in Aldershot and surrounding Hampshire through personalised 1:1 tuition
• Help learners develop key English and Maths skills
• Adapt sessions to meet individual needs and barriers to learning
• Work with learners who may have SEND or EHCPs to achieve educational outcomes
• Collaborate with Local Authorities to support vulnerable learners
