Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a Functional Skills Tutor to deliver personalised 1:1 tuition in Chester. The role suits someone who can combine strong subject knowledge with an approachable teaching style to help learners develop practical literacy and numeracy skills.

You will plan sessions around learners' current ability, target areas for improvement, and provide feedback on progress. This is a part-time role (5–15 hours per week) with a September 2026 start date and ongoing duration.

Qualifications

• Previous teaching or tutoring experience.
• Experience with Functional Skills is desirable.
• Strong English and/or Maths subject knowledge.
• Experience working with children or young people.
• Adaptable and supportive approach.

Essential Criteria

• Previous teaching or tutoring experience
• Experience with Functional Skills is desirable

• QTS, PGCE or equivalent experience desirable
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply
• Right to Work in the UK
