Job summary

Glasgow Caledonian University is seeking a Technician to support the delivery of Chemical Sciences teaching, providing practical laboratory assistance to undergraduate labs and research. The role is a full-time fixed-term post for 24 months within the SPS Technical Services team.

The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary technical service, handling organic and inorganic chemistry, analytical and wet chemistry tasks, and maintaining health and safety compliance across labs.

Qualifications

• Experience in organic chemistry and inorganic chemistry.
• Experience with analytical and wet chemical techniques.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety including COSHH and Risk Assessments.
• Ability to maintain inventories including stock updates and waste disposal routes.
• Ability to manage and prioritise conflicting workloads and work flexibly as part of a team.
• Excellent organisational and data recording skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical laboratory support to teaching activities within the department.
• Support Undergraduate practical labs and research in Chemical Sciences.
• Assist with physical and instrumental chemical analyses and preparations.
• Help maintain health and safety procedures and COSHH compliance.
• Maintain clear records and data uploads for the School.
