Job summary

The University of Chester requires a proactive Laboratory Support Technician to assist with teaching and research in the Division of Medical Sciences. Based at Exton Park Campus, you will help ensure laboratories run safely and efficiently while supporting a growing programme portfolio.

You will work with academic and technical staff to enable practical teaching, maintain equipment, manage inventories and assist with day-to-day lab operations in a multidisciplinary setting.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Biomedical Science or related discipline.
• Experience with core laboratory techniques across biochemistry, microbiology, genetics, immunology, haematology and histopathology.
• Knowledge of laboratory health and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Maintain laboratory health and safety standards.
• Facilitate taught practical classes at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
• Perform routine maintenance and testing of laboratory equipment.
• Complete inventories and audits of consumables, chemicals and equipment.
• Provide administrative support, including procurement and laboratory bookings.
• Support student recruitment activities including Open Days and Outreach.
