Chemical Process Safety Engineer

Location: Wigan

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm

Salary: £70,000 DOE

My client, a leading manufacturer in their field, is seeking an experienced Chemical Process Safety Engineer to join their team.

Requirements:

1. Minimum of 5 years relevant senior experience
2. Degree in an appropriate Engineering Discipline
3. Proficiency in process operations
4. Experience leading safety studies (HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA)
5. DSEAR risk assessment experience
6. Knowledge of COMAH, DSEAR, and current Risk Assessment Techniques, along with relevant Health and Safety legislation
7. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
8. Ability to work independently and in a team
9. Self-driven with the ability to multitask
10. Positive outlook and focused approach
11. Technical proficiency in process safety and loss prevention methods (e.g., HAZOP, PHA)
12. Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
13. Understanding of H&S and Environmental legislation
14. Knowledge of Safety Fundamentals

Responsibilities:

1. Produce safety and process engineering deliverables supporting business needs
2. Develop safety philosophies, HSE plans, safety and equipment specifications
3. Lead and participate in process safety assessments such as HAZID, HAZOP, SIL studies, and manage related actions
4. Contribute to project design reviews including P&ID and constructability reviews
5. Classify hazardous areas following industry standards
6. Develop and implement safety management plans
7. Review specifications, data sheets, study reports, and calculations for quality and compliance
8. Provide technical support for projects and operational sites
9. Ensure adherence to procedures and suggest improvements
10. Stay informed of regulatory changes, industry initiatives, and technological advances
11. Understand fundamentals of process safety, environmental engineering, and relevant standards
