LJ Recruitment is partnering with a growing independent hospitality group to recruit a CDP / Junior Sous Chef for a multi-site roving role across Colchester and surrounding venues.

The role offers a full-time position with £30,000-£35,000 salary including tronc. You will work across multiple sites, supporting different kitchen teams and maintaining high standards with fresh ingredients.

Qualifications

• Experience as a CDP, Junior Sous or similar senior kitchen role.
• Passion for fresh food and good cooking.
• Knowledge of kitchen standards and food hygiene.
• Ability to work under pressure during busy services.
• Positive, hands-on attitude and good communication.

CDP / Junior Sous Chef - Multi-Site Roving Role

Location: Colchester & surrounding areas

Salary: £30,000-£35,000 per annum, including tronc

We're looking for a talented and enthusiastic Chef de Partie / Junior Sous Chef to join our team in a multi-site, roving role across our venues in and around Colchester.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a chef who enjoys variety, wants to develop the skills and takes pride in producing fresh, well-prepared food to a consistently high standard.

You’ll be working across a group of individual venues, supporting different kitchen teams and helping maintain the standards that our guests have come to expect, cooking great food, working with fresh ingredients and being part of a good kitchen team.

The role

As a CDP / Junior Sous, you’ll be an important part of the kitchen team, working alongside our Head Chefs and Sous Chefs across multiple sites.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing and cooking fresh ingredients to a high standard
• Working across different sections of the kitchen as required
• Supporting the Sous and Head Chef with the smooth running of the kitchen
• Maintaining excellent food quality, presentation and consistency
• Helping to lead and support kitchen teams when working at different sites
• Ensuring food safety, hygiene and kitchen standards are maintained
• Assisting with prep, service and close-down
• Helping less experienced members of the team develop their skills
• Adapting quickly to different kitchens, menus and teams

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about food, reliable and keen to be part of a great kitchen team.

You’ll ideally have:

• Experience working as a CDP, Junior Sous or in a similar senior kitchen role
• A genuine passion for fresh food and good cooking
• Good knowledge of kitchen standards and food hygiene
• The ability to work well under pressure during busy services
• A positive, hands-on attitude
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• The confidence to work across different sites and kitchen teams
• A willingness to learn and developWe're also very open to experienced chefs who may have previously worked at a higher level but are now looking for a role with less management responsibility and more focus on cooking. If you've spent years managing kitchens and simply want to enjoy being back on the stove, this could be a great fit.

A full driving licence and access to transport would be required due to the multi-site nature of the role.
