Job summary

The Berkeley Scott Group is seeking an experienced Chef Manager to lead a high-volume education kitchen in Hereford. The role involves delivering fresh, seasonal food to hundreds of students while developing a catering team.

Key responsibilities include menu planning, stock control, budgets, and ensuring top hygiene and service standards in a Monday–Friday, term-time schedule with 42 weeks per year. No evenings or weekends.

Qualifications

• Hands-on chef with leadership experience in education, contract catering or high-volume environments.

We’re recruiting for an experienced Chef Manager to lead a busy, high-volume education kitchen in Hereford.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on chef and natural leader to take ownership of the kitchen operation, delivering fresh, seasonal and nutritious food to hundreds of students while leading and developing a talented catering team.

The Role

• Lead and motivate the kitchen and catering team.
• Deliver high-quality, fresh food at volume.
• Plan creative menus and manage dietary requirements.
• Oversee stock, ordering, budgets, waste and compliance.
• Maintain excellent food hygiene, health & safety and service standards.

About You

We’re looking for a confident, hands-on Chef Manager, Catering Manager or Senior Chef with experience in education, contract catering or another high-volume environment.

You’ll need strong leadership skills, experience with menu planning and kitchen management, and a genuine passion for delivering great food and high standards.
