Job summary

Sodexo is hiring a Chef de Partie for Wellington College in Berkshire. You will work in a busy school kitchen, preparing and presenting high‑quality meals while upholding food safety and allergen standards. The role offers term-time permanency with 40 hours per week across 5 days, including some weekends.

You’ll support the Head Chef, manage your section during peak service, and contribute to a positive kitchen culture with collaborative teamwork and continuous improvement ideas.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience as a Chef de Partie or similar role is essential; school or contract catering experience is advantageous.
• Enhanced DBS check will be completed for this role.
• Strong communication and organisational skills, with ability to manage your section during busy service.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook high‑quality dishes, ensuring meals are delivered to an excellent standard and served at the correct temperature.
• Support the Head Chef and team with daily food prep and maintain smooth service during busy periods.
• Receive and check deliveries, store ingredients correctly, and follow FIFO rotation to reduce waste.
• Maintain hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety standards in line with policies and legal requirements.
• Work with the team to create a positive kitchen environment for colleagues and the school community.
• Assist with school events and functions, potentially outside normal hours.
• Provide friendly, professional service to students, staff and visitors.
• Follow portion control guidelines and support sustainable, cost‑effective catering practices.
• Contribute ideas for menu improvements and service enhancements.
