Job summary

Exeter College, part of the University of Oxford, is seeking a Chef de Partie to oversee a designated section and produce high-quality meals across fine dining, weddings and mass catering. You will contribute to menus, manage stock, and act as Duty Chef when required.

This 40-hour/week role requires excellent communication and a strong knowledge of food hygiene. Salary ranges from £32,715 to £39,098 per annum, with benefits including generous annual leave, contributory pension, and a free meal

Job description

Exeter College, part of the University of Oxford, is seeking to appoint a Chef de Partie.

This a fantastic opportunity to develop your career within our award-winning team, and to take ownership of a busy and varied role that will see you working across a range of sections, and producing high-quality food that covers a broad spectrum from fine dining, weddings and conference banqueting, through to mass student catering.

On a day-to-day basis, you will oversee food production within a designated section, and will ensure that meals are produced in a timely manner and to the required standards of quality and presentation. You will also contribute to menu creation and stock control/ purchasing, and will act as the Duty Chef when required.

This is a fast-paced and often pressured environment, and it is therefore essential that you have excellent verbal communication skills, and a naturally friendly and helpful nature. You should also be able to manage a varied workload under minimal supervision, and be willing to work flexibly as part of the wider team. A strong working knowledge of food hygiene is essential, whilst a relevant professional qualification (e.g. NVQ or City & Guilds) and training in food allergen awareness is strongly desirable.

The starting salary will be within a range £32,715 – £39,098 per annum. In addition, the College offers a range of benefits including a generous annual leave allowance, contributory pension scheme, and a free meal whilst on duty.

The post is 40 hours per week, which are worked on the basis of 5 days out of 7, and include evening and weekend work, and some split shifts (as needed).
