Job summary

Careline Lifestyles is seeking an experienced chef to prepare nutritious, tasty meals for residents at St Aidens Cottage, Bearpark, Durham. This part-time, on-site role runs daytime hours from 08:30 to 17:00, with no late finishes, and offers a caring team environment where food makes a difference.

Applicants should have at least 2 years cooking or catering experience, a driving licence, and a good understanding of food hygiene. A Food Hygiene Level 2 is desirable; DBS check will be required.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years' cooking or catering experience.
  • Food Hygiene Level 2 Certificate - desirable, but not essential if you're willing to obtain one
  • Full driving licence and access to your own vehicle - essential
  • Good knowledge of food hygiene and safe food preparation

Responsibilities

  • Preparing and cooking healthy, balanced and enjoyable meals

  • Keeping the kitchen clean, organised and safe

  • Working closely with care staff to make mealtimes a positive experience
  • Supporting and guiding junior kitchen staff where required

Pay Rate: £13.74 p/h

Hours: Part-time, Dayshift

Job Type: Permanent / On-site

Shift: 0830-1700

About the Role

Are you a passionate and experienced chef who takes pride in creating great food?

We're looking for a caring, reliable and enthusiastic Chef to join our team and prepare nutritious, tasty meals for our residents.

This is more than just cooking - you'll help make mealtimes something residents can look forward to, while ensuring their dietary needs, preferences and wellbeing are always considered.

Your Key Duties

You will be responsible for:

  • Preparing and cooking healthy, balanced and enjoyable meals
