Job summary

Hollybank Trustees Ltd in Hartlepool is seeking a passionate and experienced chef to prepare nutritious, tasty meals for residents. This role focuses on more than cooking, ensuring mealtimes are enjoyable and tailored to dietary needs.

You will work day shifts from 08:30 to 17:00 on-site, earning £13.74 per hour, with DBS check required and driving licence essential.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years' cooking or catering experience.
• Food Hygiene Level 2 Certificate – desirable.
• Full driving licence and access to own vehicle – essential.
• Good knowledge of food hygiene and safe food preparation.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and cooking healthy, balanced and enjoyable meals.
• Catering for dietary requirements, allergies, medical needs and individual preferences.
• Planning meals and preparing food within agreed budgets.
• Maintaining excellent food hygiene and Health & Safety standards.
• Keeping the kitchen clean, organised and safe.
• Maintaining standards in line with EHO requirements.
• Managing stock, ordering supplies and minimising food waste.
• Using effective portion control and meal planning.
• Working closely with care staff to make mealtimes a positive experience.
• Supporting and guiding junior kitchen staff where required.

We're looking for a caring, reliable and enthusiastic Chef to join our team and prepare nutritious, tasty meals for our residents.

This is more than just cooking – you'll help make mealtimes something residents can look forward to, while ensuring their dietary needs, preferences and wellbeing are always considered.

You will be responsible for:
