Job summary

PPM Recruitment in Thatcham is seeking an experienced Chef to join our kitchen team. The role involves food preparation, cooking to high standards, and maintaining kitchen hygiene. DBS clearance is required and weekend shifts may be needed.

The position offers an hourly wage around £14.20–£14.24 with holiday pay, and opportunities for training and development within a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a chef or lead cook
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact positively with customers and colleagues
• Ability to follow instructions and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Understanding of food hygiene and safety regulations (training will be provided if necessary)
• Good communication skills and a friendly, approachable demeanor
• Flexibility to work different shifts, including weekends and holidays if required

Responsibilities

• Food Preparation: Assist in the preparation of meals, including basic cooking tasks, assembling sandwiches, salads, and other menu items according to established recipes and standards
• Cooking: Perform cooking duties as required, ensuring that food is cooked to the correct temperature, taste, and presentation standards
• Kitchen Assistance: Support the kitchen team by assisting with food prep, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and ensuring all cooking utensils and equipment are properly sanitized and stored
• Cleanliness: Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen and service areas, including washing dishes, cleaning work surfaces, and disposing of waste appropriately
• Compliance: Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including food hygiene standards, to ensure a safe environment for both staff and customers

Working hours are 11.00am-7.30pm . Monday to friday
