Become a crucial part of the kitchen team working 37.5 hours a week, crafting daily meals for service users, staff, and visitors. Dive into food preparation and elevate your role by providing guidance and training to your peers.

As a Chef you will be:
  1. Supporting the Head Chef for the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
  2. Maintaining good food storage procedures and stock rotation according to established procedures.
  3. Preparing, planning, and cooking meals to a consistently high standard, taking account of any special requests or dietary requirements within the unit.
  4. Serving service users, staff, and visitors with food and beverage in a professional and courteous manner.
  5. Preparing and producing foods for conferences and banquets.
  6. Participating in food costings through effective cost control procedures.
  7. Adhering to the ‘Safer Food Better Business’ standards and record keeping.
  8. Adhering strictly to Food Hygiene Regulations and other safety procedures at all times.
  9. Taking full shift responsibility for the catering operation.
  10. Assisting the Head Chef by researching and creating new menus ensuring meals are of a high quality and compliment healthy eating guidelines.
  11. Correctly filing all paperwork in relation to the HACCP system, such as fridge temperatures, food temperature logs, and cleaning schedules.
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
  • To be 18 years or older.
  • GCSE or equivalent English.
  • City & Guilds 706/1 and 2 (or equivalent) Basic Food Preparation Cooking.
  • Level 2 Food Safety (essential), willing to complete Level 3.
  • Previous experience in a similar environment.
  • Previous experience in delivering a service on mass.
  • Menu planning, costing, ordering, stock control, and budget experience.
Where you will be working:

Location: 1 Towngate Close, Guiseley, Leeds, LS20 9PQ

You will be working at Spring Wood Lodge, a service that supports women over the age of 18 with complex emotional and mental health problems associated with significant risk behaviors. Typically, they have a diagnosis of personality disorder or severe mental illness.

Working as part of a team, you will focus on active rehabilitation with a view to achieving sustainable discharge.
