Job summary

JMC Aviation is seeking a Check Manager in Prestwick to lead day-to-day aircraft maintenance activities, ensuring on-time delivery within budget and standards. The role centres on customer liaison, regulatory compliance, and team leadership.

You will oversee CRS issuance, manage customer work packs, assess risks, and guide engineering teams while driving safety and quality in line with Part 145/66 requirements.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of management experience in base maintenance or supervising Licensed Engineers in a base-maintenance environment.
• UKCAA Part 66 Licence (B1 or B2) and C Licence, on at least two of A320, A330, 737, 787, recent on one.
• Hands-on experience certifying aircraft with EASA/UKCAA Part 66 licence and appropriate authorisation.
• Strong understanding of regulatory requirements related to Part 145.

Responsibilities

• Ensure on-time delivery of customer aircraft within budget, standards, and customer expectations.
• Utilise C-certification privileges to issue CRS after base maintenance input.
• Oversee management of customer work packs.
• Identify risks/delays in maintenance and implement mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate with Shift Supervisor to optimise manpower usage.
• Coach and develop direct reports through appraisals and training.
• Provide guidance on complex maintenance tasks and liaise with engineering teams.
• Lead investigations into maintenance incidents or delays and recommend preventative actions.
• Ensure compliance with EASA Part 145, Part M, Part 66 and company policies.

Salary: Up to £94,000 (total package)

Shifts: Monday to Friday (4 x 10 hour shifts) with assigned on call weekends (paid overtime)

About The Role

Responsible for the day-to-day management of aircraft maintenance input ensuring all materials, resources and facilities required to deliver the check on time, at the right cost and to the required standard are available.

The Check Manager will be the principle point of contact for the customer ensuring that all customer expectations are fully met. Responsible for ensuring all Regulatory requirements and company procedures are adhered too along with all health and safety requirements

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure the on-time delivery of customer aircraft within the agreed budget, meeting required standards and customer expectations.
• Utilise C-certification privileges to issue the Certificate of Release to Service (CRS) following base maintenance input.
• Oversee the management of customer work packs
• Identify potential risks and delays in the maintenance process and implement mitigation strategies to ensure minimal disruption.
• Work closely with the Shift Supervisor to review, allocate, and maximise efficient manpower utilisation.
• Manage, mentor, and develop direct reports through performance appraisals, competency assessments, and training initiatives.
• Provide guidance on complex maintenance tasks, troubleshooting technical issues, and liaising with engineering teams as required.
• Lead investigations into maintenance-related incidents or delays, producing reports and recommending preventative measures.
• Ensure full compliance with EASA Part 145, Part M, and Part 66 regulations, as well as company policies and industry best practices.

Candidate Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years management experience within P145 base maintenance, preferably managing other Licensed Engineers in a supervisory role in base maintenance
• UKCAA Part 66 Licence, B1 or B2 and C Licence holder, typed on at least 2 of the following and recent on 1: A320 , A330, 737, 787
• Hands on experience of certifying Aircraft with an EASA/UKCAA part 66 licence and appropriate company authorisation
• Full understanding of regulatory requirements in relation to Part 145
