Job summary

JMC Aviation in Prestwick is seeking a Check Manager to lead day-to-day aircraft maintenance input, ensuring all materials, resources and facilities are available to deliver the check on time, at the right cost and to the required standard.

The Check Manager will be the primary customer contact, ensuring expectations are met and regulatory, Part 145/66, and company procedures are followed, while maintaining health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years management within P145 base maintenance.
• UKCAA Part 66 Licence (B1 or B2) and C Licence, typed on at least 2 of A320, A330, 737, 787.
• Hands-on certifying Aircraft with EASA/UKCAA Part 66 licence and appropriate authorisation.
• Full understanding of regulatory requirements in relation to Part 145.

Responsibilities

• Ensure on-time delivery of customer aircraft within budget, meeting standards and expectations.
• Utilise C-certification privileges to issue CRS after base maintenance input.
• Oversee management of customer work packs.
• Identify risks and delays and implement mitigation strategies.

Employment Type: Permanent

Salary: Up to £94,000 (total package)

Shifts: Monday to Friday (4 x 10 hour shifts) with assigned on call weekends (paid overtime)

About the Role

Responsible for the day-to‑day management of aircraft maintenance input ensuring all materials, resources and facilities required to deliver the check on time, at the right cost and to the required standard are available.

The Check Manager will be the principle point of contact for the customer ensuring that all customer expectations are fully met. Responsible for ensuring all Regulatory requirements and company procedures are adhered too along with all health and safety requirements

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure the on-time delivery of customer aircraft within the agreed budget, meeting required standards and customer expectations.
• Utilise C-certification privileges to issue the Certificate of Release to Service (CRS) following base maintenance input.
• Oversee the management of customer work packs
• Identify potential risks and delays in the maintenance process and implement mitigation strategies to ensure minimal disruption.
• Work closely with the Shift Supervisor to review, allocate, and maximise efficient manpower utilisation.
• Manage, mentor, and develop direct reports through performance appraisals, competency assessments, and training initiatives.
• Provide guidance on complex maintenance tasks, troubleshooting technical issues, and liaising with engineering teams as required.
• Lead investigations into maintenance-related incidents or delays, producing reports and recommending preventative measures.
• Ensure full compliance with EASA Part 145, Part M, and Part 66 regulations, as well as company policies and industry best practices.

Candidate Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years management experience within P145 base maintenance, preferably managing other Licensed Engineers in a supervisory role in base maintenance
• UKCAA Part 66 Licence, B1 or B2 and C Licence holder, typed on at least 2 of the following and recent on 1: A320 , A330, 737, 787
• Hands on experience of certifying Aircraft with an EASA/UKCAA part 66 licence and appropriate company authorisation
• Full understanding of regulatory requirements in relation to Part 145
