Job summary

Southend-on-Sea City Council is seeking a Chartered Building Surveyor (MRICS desirable) to lead the delivery of the Southend Pier Capital Programme and associated maintenance works. You will conduct condition surveys, prepare specifications, and oversee contractors to ensure safety and quality throughout the project lifecycle.

The role requires strong knowledge of Building Regulations, CDM, Health & Safety, and excellent stakeholder management.

Qualifications

• Solid understanding of Building Regulations, CDM Regulations and Health & Safety legislation.
• Experience preparing specifications and managing tender processes.
• Undertaking condition surveys and delivering projects from inception to completion.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of the Pier Capital Programme and planned maintenance works.
• Manage projects from design through to completion, preparing specifications and tender documentation.
• Oversee contractors and consultants to ensure safe, efficient delivery to high standards.
• Undertake condition surveys, inspections and risk assessments for asset management.
• Prepare and progress Marine Licence applications and other statutory consents.
