Job summary

SSE is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to support offshore wind projects across the UK and Europe. You will contribute geotechnical strategies, oversee investigations, and collaborate with engineering and procurement teams to ensure technical excellence and project success.

The role focuses on lifecycle geotechnical work from development through construction and operation, with emphasis on technical leadership, risk control and compliant delivery in a renewable energy context.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology.
• Chartered status or progression towards professional accreditation.
• Strong understanding of offshore wind development, codes and standards.
• Experience in offshore ground investigations, lab testing, interpretation and ground modelling.
• Knowledge of geohazard management, pile driveability, foundation and cable design.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver geotechnical strategies for offshore wind projects, providing leadership and risk input.
• Plan, coordinate and execute offshore geotechnical activities including investigations and testing.
• Collaborate with project teams to scope, specify and manage consultants and contractors.
• Review and challenge third-party studies and designs, including desk studies and installation analyses.
• Support DEVEX, CAPEX and OPEX planning, driving continuous improvement and compliance.
