Job description

Post: 1.8 WTE Chaplain Full time and Part time applicants considered.

The Department of Spiritual, Pastoral and Religious Care is responsible for facilitating the pastoral care of all patients, staff, and visitors at UHCW NHS Trust. It also provides specialist knowledge and expertise relating to spiritual matters.

The post holder will contribute to a multi-faith team providing spiritual and pastoral care for patients, relatives, and staff in UHCW NHS Trust, supporting other sites across Coventry and Warwickshire covered by service level agreements. They will work with the Lead Chaplain and the team of Chaplains to facilitate care provision.

The post requires working at University Hospital Coventry, the Hospital of St Cross in Rugby, and other sites as needed to support service level agreements.

Please Note
  • Applicants should include information about their endorsement/licence to practice as a healthcare chaplain in their application.
  • Interviews will be held on 28th May 2025.
  • Applicants invited for interview will be informed by 16 May 2025 and must submit a paper before their interview.
  • Responsible to the Lead Chaplain for the day-to-day provision and development of pastoral, religious, and spiritual care, and for confidentially recording activities in the chaplaincy data system.
  • Work collaboratively with the chaplaincy team, attend meetings, and contribute to the development of the service.
  • Provide spiritual and pastoral care, including delivering rituals aligned with one's faith or belief, devising and leading rituals like memorial services, and conducting hospital funerals in accordance with Trust procedures.
  • Establish links with faith/belief leaders in the community.
  • Support staff members.
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rota, with emergency response within 1 hour.
  • Provide training and contribute to professional development.
  • Commit to personal and professional growth.
  • Contribute to the effective functioning of the Trust.
