An established industry player is seeking a dedicated individual to join their plastic surgery team. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with consultants, manage critical patient care situations, and engage in professional development through tailored training. With a focus on teamwork, the successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the highest standards of patient care while contributing to teaching and research initiatives. This position is ideal for those looking to enhance their skills in a supportive environment, making a meaningful impact on patient outcomes.
The successful candidate will be part of a 1 in 10 registrar on-call rota and is expected to act as a competent member of the on-call team. Applicants must have GMC registration and NHS experience at SHO level or higher in Plastic Surgery.
The role involves working primarily with a consultant or team of consultants within a plastic surgery subspecialty, with potential coverage across other specialties to ensure emergency service provision. Trainees rotate every four or six months.
The candidate should be familiar with patients under the care of the subspecialties and assist in department operations. Participation in teaching, audit, and research is encouraged.
The department offers various training opportunities in plastic surgery. These positions are aimed at surgeons in training, with professional development expected during the tenure. However, these posts do not have SAC or college approval and do not count as part of a national training rotation in the UK. NTN trainees are prioritized, but training will be tailored to individual development needs towards achieving requirements for a National Training post or FRCSPlast/CESR. Each candidate will be assigned a clinical and educational supervisor, with appraisals provided within the Trust.
