An established industry player in healthcare is seeking a dedicated Plastic Surgery Registrar to join their dynamic team. This role offers the opportunity to manage critical plastic surgery emergencies while working closely with experienced consultants. The successful candidate will be part of a 1 in 10 registrar on-call rota, expected to act as a competent team member. Responsibilities include professional communication with colleagues, initial patient care, and management of common plastic surgery emergencies such as major burns (adult and paediatric) and basic hand trauma including tendon and nerve repairs.
Applicants must have GMC registration and NHS experience at SHO level or higher in Plastic Surgery.
The role primarily involves working with a consultant or team of consultants within a plastic surgery subspecialty, with potential duties in other specialties to ensure emergency service coverage. Trainees rotate every four or six months.
The candidate should be familiar with patients under the department’s care and assist in departmental operations. Participation in teaching, audit, and research is encouraged.
The department offers various training opportunities. These posts are designed for surgeons in training and aim for professional development, though they do not count as part of a national training rotation or carry SAC or college approval. Priority is given to NTN trainees, with training tailored to individual development needs towards achieving requirements for a National Training post or FRCS Plast/CESR. Each candidate will be assigned a clinical and educational supervisor, with appraisals provided within the Trust.
