Job summary

James Fisher Defence (JFD) seeks a Certification Controller to ensure every certification pack is complete, accurate, and traceable, in line with internal processes, defence authorities, and customer requirements.

You will manage CoCs, material certificates, pressure test records, FAT/SAT documentation, and IMCA-related evidence, while coordinating with document controllers to maintain correct versioning and archiving within PLM.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in certification control, quality assurance, or document management within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of traceability requirements, material certification, pressure systems, and QA standards.
• Working knowledge of IMCA, DNV, ISO 9001, welding standards, manufacturing documentation.
• High level of attention to detail with a disciplined approach to document control and accuracy.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across technical, engineering, and operational teams.

Responsibilities

• Ensure complete, accurate, and traceable certification packs for each build or project.
• Manage and maintain all certification documentation (CoCs, material certificates, pressure test records, FAT/SAT documentation, IMCA-related evidence).
• Oversee adherence to project-specific Control Plans, aligned with JFD QA processes from design through to delivery.
• Collaborate with Document Controllers to ensure correct versioning, approval, and archiving of controlled documentation within PLM.
• Ensure compliance with applicable standards (IMCA, DNV, ABS, Lloyd’s, defence regulations) and internal HSSEQ requirements.
• Prepare project-specific certification dossiers for customer delivery and audit activities.
• Support internal teams in understanding certification requirements (e.g. weld procedures, material traceability, calibration).
• Monitor certification trends, identify defects, and drive preventive improvements.
