Job summary

UHNM is seeking a Registered Biomedical Scientist to join the Cellular Pathology Department at Royal Stoke University Hospital in Stoke-on-Trent. This Band 5 role is permanent, 37.5 hours per week, with a seven‑day rotation and bank holiday coverage.

Tasks include tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, IHC, and other diagnostic procedures to support a high-quality service. The ideal candidate will hold HCPC registration, an IBMS accredited degree, and CPD evidence, with strong teamwork and

Qualifications

• IBMS Accredited Biomedical Science Degree and HCPC registration required.
• Experience in a busy Cellular Pathology Laboratory within an NHS Trust.
• Knowledge of Laboratory Health & Safety regulations.
• Ability to work to SOPs and maintain quality standards.
• Evidence of CPD and IBMS registration portfolio completion.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality diagnostic service in Cellular Pathology.
• Handle specimen receipt, embedding, microtomy, and IHC.
• Provide specialist advice to clinicians and other laboratory users.
• Maintain QC and health and safety policies.
• Supervise team members and train staff; assist with specimen preparation.
