Job summary

Southampton City Council’s Museums, Art Gallery and Heritage Services is seeking a Visitor Experience Supervisor (Catering) to oversee catering delivery across venues, supporting visitors, volunteers and staff to ensure excellent service and compliance with food safety standards.

You will organise day-to-day catering, supervise assistants, manage rotas, stock, cashing up, cafe presentation and licensing requirements, while aiming to meet income targets and support venue hire.

Qualifications

• Catering experience and strong customer service skills.
• Ability to support and guide team members.
• Organised, practical and calm under pressure with clear commitment to food safety and inclusion.
• Willingness to work a 19.625-hour bi-weekly rota and adapt to venue needs.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the practical delivery of catering and hospitality activity within the venues.
• Organise day-to-day catering operations and supervise Visitor Experience Assistants; support rotas, food preparation, stock control and waste management.
• Oversee tills and cashing up, café presentation, health and safety, licensing requirements and hospitality activity.
• Support income targets and assist with venue hire and front-of-house activity.
