Southampton City Council is seeking a Visitor Experience Assistant (Venues) to warmly welcome visitors to our museums and gallery. You will assist with front-of-house operations, provide information on exhibitions and services, and support ticketing and retail tasks while helping to maintain presentation across venues.

The Museums, Art Gallery and Heritage Services sits within Southampton City Council’s Culture and Tourism Division and plays a vital role in sharing, celebrating and caring for Southampton’s rich art, history and heritage. Through Southampton City Art Gallery, SeaCity Museum, Tudor House & Garden and the city’s collections, we create opportunities for people to explore stories, ideas and experiences that connect communities, visitors and future generations.
We are a public-facing, people-centred service that brings together collections, exhibitions, learning, engagement, volunteering, commercial activity and venue operations. Our teams work collaboratively to provide welcoming, inclusive, safe and inspiring experiences for residents, schools, families, partners, communities and visitors to the city.

As Visitor Experience Assistant (Venues), you will be one of the first faces visitors meet when they come to our museums and gallery. You will provide a warm, helpful and efficient welcome, support visitors through our venues and help create positive first impressions for people of all ages and backgrounds.
You will support daily front of house operations, answer enquiries, provide information about exhibitions, collections, services and places of interest, assist with online ticketing and e-resources, take payments, support retail, help maintain venue presentation, collect visitor information and support venue hire, exhibitions, learning and events activity.
We are looking for someone friendly, flexible and customer focused, with clear communication skills and a commitment to inclusive service. You will need to work well as part of a team, respond positively to visitors and support high standards across our venues.
We have 3 posts available;
35hrs Tuesday-Saturday
34hrs Monday-Thursday & Sunday
13hrs Friday & Sunday
If you are successful in being invited to interview, you may be asked to complete one or more interactive tasks on the day as part of the selection process.
Interview date will be on 7th or 9th September and will be confirmed after closing date.
Salary: The salary band for this role is £25,583 - £26,139 per annum (pro rata). The starting salary is £25,583 with annual progression through the salary bands.
