Job summary

Southampton City Council’s Museums, Art Gallery and Heritage Services is seeking an Assistant Visitor Experience Supervisor (Venues) to help run venues and support front-of-house operations. The role focuses on customer care, 21 hours per week (Thursday to Saturday), and assisting with retail, learning and exhibitions activities.

You will assist supervisors with daily operations, cash handling and health & safety procedures, and may act as the responsible person for a building on duty.

  • Flexibility to work Thursday to Saturday (21 hours).

Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day running of venues and front of house.
  • Assist supervisors with venue presentation, customer enquiries and cash handling.
  • Support retail activity, reporting repairs and maintaining security.
  • Assist events and learning activities; implement health and safety procedures.
  • Act as responsible person for a building on day when required.
  • Communicate clearly and maintain high standards across venues.

Assistant Visitor Experience Supervisor (Venues)
The Role

As Assistant Visitor Experience Supervisor (Venues), you will support the day-to-day running of our venues and help ensure the front of house team is organised to support visitors, volunteers, retail, commercial, catering, learning and exhibitions activity.

You willassistsupervisors with daily operations, venue presentation, customer enquiries, cash handling, retail activity, reporting repairs,maintainingsecurity, supportingeventsand learning activity, and implementing health and safety and emergency procedures. You may also act as the responsible person for a building on the day whenrequired.

We are looking for someone practical,approachableand well organised, with strong customer care skills and the confidence to support colleagues,volunteersand visitors. You will need to work flexibly, communicateclearlyand helpmaintainhigh standardsacross our venues.

The post is an Assistant Visitor Experience Supervisor role for 21hrs Thursday - Saturday.

If you are successful in being invited to interview, you may be asked to complete one or more interactive tasks on the day as part of the selection process.

Interview date will be on 7th or 9th September and will be confirmed after closing date.

Salary: The salary band for the role is £26,402 - £28,207 per annum (pro rata). The starting salaries are £26,402 with annual progression through the salary bands.
