Job summary

Southend University Hospital NHS Trust is seeking a Restaurant Supervisor to join the Catering Team at Basildon Hospital. The role focuses on hands-on leadership, ensuring efficient day-to-day operation, high food safety standards and outstanding customer service for patients, visitors and staff.

You will lead a small team, manage rostering, assist with stock control and support service delivery across the restaurant, helping to maintain a welcoming dining experience in a large NHS Trust.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support a small catering team, ensuring high standards of service and compliance.
• Assist with rostering, annual leave management, sickness reporting and deploying staff to meet needs.
• Undertake basic food preparation including packing, labeling, display and chilling of items.
• Serve food and beverages to a high standard of quality and portion control.
• Ensure food safety, hygiene and health and safety procedures are followed.
• Monitor stock levels and rotate stock to reduce waste.
• Provide excellent customer service to patients, visitors and staff.
