Job summary

Elysium Healthcare is seeking a part-time Catering Assistant for the kitchen at St Mary's Hospital. The role involves preparing and cooking meals, serving users and staff, and maintaining kitchen hygiene. You will work 18 hours a week within a dedicated kitchen team and report to the Head Chef.

Knowledge of COSHH and HACCP, plus basic numeracy and literacy, are required. Experience in a similar role is preferred; a catering qualification is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Ensure kitchen meets operational hygiene standards.
• Liaise with dietitians on dietary and planned meals.
• Assist with deliveries.

Job description

Part-time Catering Assistant post in the kitchen at St Mary's Hospital, an inpatient service run by Elysium Healthcare for men aged 18 and over with higher support needs. The work centres on preparing and cooking meals, serving users, staff and visitors, keeping stores and kitchen areas clean and hygienic, and making deliveries. Working 18 hours a week within an established kitchen team, reporting to the Head Chef, with regular contact beyond the kitchen. Knowledge of COSHH and HACCP and prior experience in a similar role are needed.

What the job involves

• Assisting with the preparation and cooking of meals in line with company policies and procedures
• Serving food and beverages to service users, staff and visitors
• Maintaining storage procedures and stock rotation
• Ensuring areas, equipment and furniture are cleaned and stored correctly
• Ensuring the kitchen and associated areas meet operational hygiene standards
• Liaising with the wider team, including dietitians, on dietary and planned meals
• Assisting with deliveries
