Job summary

Elysium Healthcare is seeking a Catering Assistant for Pinhoe View, a mental health inpatient service. You will support chefs, serve meals to service users, staff and visitors, and assist with deliveries within a full 21-hour week rota.

You will maintain hygiene standards, manage stock, and liaise with dietitians on dietary requirements. DBS check is required, and COSHH/HACCP knowledge is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar catering role.
• Knowledge of COSHH and HACCP.
• Basic numeracy and literacy skills.
• DBS disclosure required.

Job description

This Catering Assistant post sits in the kitchen team at Pinhoe View, an acute adult mental health inpatient service run by Elysium Healthcare across two wards. The work centres on helping chefs prepare and cook meals, serving service users, staff and visitors, keeping storage and stock rotation in order, and liaising with dietitians over dietary needs. Hours are 21 a week, working alongside the Head Chef in a 24-hour service. Knowledge of COSHH and HACCP and prior experience in a similar role are needed, and the post is subject to a DBS check.

What the job involves

• Assist chefs with preparing and cooking meals in line with company policies and procedures
• Serve food and beverages to service users, staff and visitors
• Maintain storage procedures and stock rotation
• Keep all areas, equipment and furniture clean and stored correctly
• Ensure the kitchen and associated areas meet operational hygiene standards
• Liaise with the wider team, including dietitians, on dietary requirements and planned meals
• Assist with deliveries
