Job summary

Elysium Healthcare is seeking a Catering Assistant to support the kitchen team at Pinhoe View, Exeter, on a 21-hour weekly contract. You will assist with meal preparation, maintain hygiene, and help with deliveries in a calm, patient-centred environment.

Reporting to the Head Chef, you will work closely with dietitians and catering staff, ensuring safety and quality in every service while benefiting from extensive training and career development opportunities.

• Relevant Catering Qualification (Desirable)
• Knowledge of COSHH and HACCP
• Experience of working within similar role
• Basic numeracy and literacy skills

Responsibilities

• Assist catering staff with preparation and cooking of meals in line with policies.
• Serve service users, staff and visitors with food and beverages.
• Maintain storage procedures and stock rotation.
• Ensure areas, equipment and furniture are cleaned and stored correctly.
• Ensure kitchen and related areas meet hygiene standards and comply with policies.
• Liaise with the wider team including dietitians regarding dietary and planned meals.

As a Catering Assistant you will be:

• Assisting catering staff with both the preparation and cooking of meals in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures.
• Serving service users, staff and visitors with food and beverages.
• Maintaining storage procedures and stock rotation.
• Ensuring that all areas, equipment and furniture are cleaned and stored correctly.
• As part of the catering team, ensuring the kitchen and associated areas meet operational hygiene standards and comply with the company’s policies and procedures.

Where you will be working:

Location: Pinhoe View, College Way, Exeter, EX1 3PZ Pinhoe View is a new purpose-built facility where a range of mental health services are provided for adults with acute mental health conditions across two wards The 24-hour acute inpatient service is supported by a full multidisciplinary team, which specialises in the assessment, treatment and stabilisation of people suffering from a significant mental health episode and in crisis.
