NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is seeking a Support Services Assistant (Catering) to join the Catering Team at Leverndale Hospital. You will assist with meal preparation, assembly and distribution for patients, staff and visitors, ensuring safe handling and high standards of hygiene.
The role runs 19.26 hours per week, Monday to Friday 12:00–16:00, with training in basic food hygiene, COSHH, health & safety and infection prevention.

As a Support Services Assistant (Catering), you will work as part of the Catering Team to support the delivery of high-quality catering services for patients, staff, visitors and functions. The role involves assisting with food preparation, meal assembly, picking and packing meal components, meal distribution, regeneration of meals, service delivery, wash-up duties and cleaning activities. You will play an important part in ensuring food is prepared, handled and served safely while maintaining excellent standards of hygiene and customer service.
This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker visa or a Health and Care Worker visa. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is unable to provide candidates or employees with a Certificate of Sponsorship (COS).
You will be responsible for supporting the provision of patient, staff and visitor catering services, including the preparation and assembly of meals, distribution of food items and provision of specialist dietary requirements. The postholder will ensure food is received, stored, prepared, regenerated and served in line with HACCP procedures and food safety legislation. You will maintain accurate HACCP records, adhere to stock rotation procedures, operate catering equipment safely, uphold high standards of food hygiene and infection control, and follow all Health & Safety and Board policies. The role also involves cleaning duties, reporting equipment faults, working effectively with colleagues across departments and contributing to a safe, efficient and customer‑focused catering service.
