Job summary

Northumbria Healthcare Facilities Management (NHFM) is seeking a part-time Catering Assistant at Wansbeck General Hospital. The role offers 21 hours per week, typically 3 x 7-hour shifts, with enhanced weekend/bank holiday pay. Responsibilities include food prep, dishwashing, and serving in the staff restaurant while maintaining high hygiene standards.

The post requires basic food hygiene, GCSEs, and NVQ lev1-2. DBS checks may be required, with costs deducted from pay.

Qualifications

• Customer service training or experience.
• Understanding of food hygiene and safety regulations.
• Ability to communicate clearly with staff and visitors.

Responsibilities

• Prepare foodstuffs and assist in food service to patients, visitors and staff.
• Ensure high standards of cleanliness in all catering areas.
• Operate central dish wash and restock dining areas as needed.
• Serve meals, handle payments where required and maintain HACCP compliance.
• Support training and cover shifts as required.
