Job summary

Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, via its NHFM subsidiary, is hiring a Catering Assistant at North Tyneside General Hospital. The role focuses on delivering high standards of cleanliness in the catering areas and assisting with meal preparation, service, and ward support.

You will work 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 09:30–13:30, with responsibilities across the catering department and dining areas. Training and NHS terms apply; DBS checks and sponsorship rules may apply.

Qualifications

• Basic Food Hygiene and/or Level 1 Food Safety Certificate to be achieved within 6 months
• Basic Numerate & Literate Skills required
• NVQ Level 1 or 2
• GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent) required

Responsibilities

• Receiving, checking quality, temperature and quantity of goods per order and storing them per HACCP policies
• Serve food to staff and patients; monitor temperature in line with Food Temperature Regulations
• Operate central dish wash, clean and dry staff crockery and cutlery
• Prepare vegetables, fruits and salads
• Prepare and dispatch meals
• Provide patient meal service
• Serve food in hospital restaurants and dining rooms
• Restock vending machines and maintain cleanliness
