Job summary

NHFM is seeking a Catering Assistant to join the team at Wansbeck General Hospital in Ashington. The role is part-time, 21 hours per week, usually three 7-hour shifts between 7am and 7pm. You will prepare food, serve in the restaurant and dining room, and handle payments using EPOS.

Flexibility to cover weekends and bank holidays with enhanced rates is required. DBS check may be required, and you will be employed by NHFM, a subsidiary of Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

Qualifications

• Basic Food Hygiene and/or Level 1 Food Safety Certificate within 6 months of start date
• NVQ Level 1 or 2
• GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent)

Responsibilities

• Preparation of vegetables, fruits and salads and dispatch of meals.
• Service of food in restaurant and dining room; handling cash and EPOS till system.
• Cleaning of premises and equipment to required standards; HACCP compliant handling and storage.
• Operate central dish wash; maintain cleanliness of staff/ward crockery and cutlery.
• Flexibility to cover holidays and sickness; work across all catering areas on rotation.
