Job summary

Mitie Group plc. is seeking a catering assistant to join our team in a dynamic environment. You will prepare dining areas, serve meals, and ensure high standards of cleanliness and safety.

The role requires numeracy, literacy, and strong communication skills, with a focus on customer service and teamwork. Training is provided for basic hygiene and health & safety where needed, and you will contribute to a pleasant, well-run dining experience across sites.

Qualifications

• Previous catering experience in a similar environment is desirable.
• Basic Food Hygiene and Health & Safety certificates (training provided if not held).
• Adequate numeracy, literacy, and communication skills.
• Passion for customer service and ability to work independently and in a team.
• Adaptable, detail-oriented with strong organisational and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain dining and service areas, including furniture, trolleys, and cleaning equipment.
• Serve food in correct portions and wash dishes, cutlery, and catering equipment.
• Clean all catering areas daily and follow health and safety standards.
• Handle cash collection, banking, and maintain records and procedures.
• Communicate effectively with customers, managers, and colleagues to deliver excellent service.
